About AGF

It's time for safe bicycling in Australia.

Help us in our quest for zero bike-related fatalities

It's time for all bike riders to unite.  Bike safety starts with us.

Anyone who has ever ridden a bike on the road knows what it feels like to be vulnerable and exposed.  But it doesn't have to be this way, major previously traffic-congested cities like Bogota, Columbia have created a true bicycling friendly culture in a matter of years. We can achieve this too, throughout Australia.

The Safe System for road transport has Safe Roads, Safe Speeds, Safe Vehicles and Safe Road Users as its key elements. The overwhelming focus – and funding – is towards motor vehicles and passengers of motor vehicles. The Foundation is committed to working with Government, industry and research institutions to increase the focus on bikes and bike riders within the Safe System.

Here’s how your support can help:

  • Club 500 – An annual Silver Membership of $500 or Gold Membership of $1000 demonstrates your commitment to improving road safety for cyclists and motorists. Tax deductible.
  • Donate – by direct deposit, cheque or online credit card payment. Donations $2 and over are tax deductible.
  • Fundraise/Organise an Event – many individuals and organisations conduct events/activities to raise funds on behalf of the Amy Gillett Foundation
  • Become an AGF Local Champion - promote the AGF message in your local community

The Amy Gillett Foundation relies on the generosity of the Australian community and corporate support to continue its important work. We receive no ongoing government funding.

Bike Movement Campaign

On behalf of the Amy Gillett Foundation, thank you to all who generously contributed to our first BikeMovement fundraising campaign.

Our call to action to the bike riding community to support our fundraising effort was two-fold.
         1.  To demonstrate to the government and stakeholder organisations that the bike community is concerned enough about improving bike safety to share the burden, and
         2.  To establish a pool of funds for an enduring bike safety campaign that aims to humanise bike riders by building upon “a Metre Matters”.

Over the eight-week duration of BikeMovement, riders helped raise over $28,000!  This level of funding will enable us to establish a social media platform for the new campaign, which will aim to change motorists’ behaviour in regards to passing bike riders at a safe distance.

The Facts

Did you know that over 3.155 million Australians ride bikes regularly?
That's an increase of over 15% since 2003.

Local, State and Federal Governments are looking for solutions to traffic congestion, connected public transportation options and ways in which to reduce pollution and to improve the health of Australians. Bike riding is the one activity that addresses all these issues!

Sadly for some it comes at a cost.
