Remembering Amy for a Reason
The mission of the Amy Gillett Foundation is for safe bicycling in Australia. Our vision is zero bicycling-related fatalities. One of the key Foundation programs underpinning these aims is the “ Remembering Amy for a Reason" program.
“Remembering Amy for a Reason” is a road safety awareness and life skills program currently delivered to school aged children (both primary and secondary) in South Australia by Amy’s mum, Mary Safe.
It is aimed at helping to educate the next generation about the importance of taking responsibility on the road whether riding a bike or driving a car. In the past 3 years, over 12,000 children have benefited from the program.
Fundraising Challenge
Our challenge now is to fund the expansion of the program into other states to give as many of our next generation the opportunity to participate and to do this, our objective is to raise over $100,000 through fundraising fromAmy's Ride Victoria.
The expanded program has the working title of We Remember. The expanded program will have the families and friends of injured and deceased cyclists, talking about safe bicycling and driving as part of a broader AGF initiative throughout schools nationally - potentially a very potent and effective program.
How you can help
There are two simple ways you can support the Amy Gillett Foundation to realise this goal;
1. Register to participate in any Amy's Ride
2. Take on a fundraising challenge with us.
When completing your registration, either as an individual or team, you can click on the link provided, set up your own fundraising page and send the link to your friends, colleagues and family. In this way, they can support your involvement in the ride and at the same time help to address the issues of safety and respect for all road users.
Fundraising Prizes
Along the way, there are some great prizes to recognise those people and companies that raise the most funds. Our recent Amy's Ride Geelong winners picked up the following prizes;
• Highest Fundraising Individual: wins a HED Ardenne SL wheel set. With a retail value of $1500 for the set, these wheels have been a big seller in the US. The HED C2 rim - By obsessing over design, and with the modern miracle of CAD, the C2 rim is 23mm wide, and only 430g.
• Highest Fundraising Team: wins the $500 voucher from Bike Exchange.
Are you up for the challenge?

Testimonials from North Haven Primary School students (SA)
Mary explained about road safety and the need to wear helmets correctly, also about the relationship between cyclists and drivers. 'Remembering Amy' means a lot. It means to inspire, to help, to achieve, to love and most importantly to remember great people like Amy.
I gained a lot during Mary Safe's visit, such as information regarding Mary Safe's daughter's life. Amy Gillett was a very persistent person, who set a lot of goals in her life. I also gained information about cycling, such as where to ride on the road, and what to wear when cycling.
