2020 VIRTUAL AMY’S GREAT OCEAN ROAD GRAN FONDO

Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, 2020 sees us unable to start our ride in Lorne this year and experience the climbs, the views, and the atmosphere of Amy’s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo.

Thank you to all our registered riders for your support and fundraising efforts so far!

We’re excited to announce that Amy’s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo is taking a new shape this year, in the form of the 2020 Virtual Amy’s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo. In partnership with Zwift and Cycle Collective, we’ve recreated the terrain and challenges of our Amy’s Gran, Medio & Family Fondo for you to enjoy at your pace.

Participants that are currently registered for 2020 will be automatically transferred to the October, 24th 2021 event date. We look forward to seeing you at the 10th Amy’s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo then, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still participate this year! For further information about transfer of registration, or if you can’t make the 2021 event, please contact: granfondo@amygillett.org.au

At Amy’s Gran Fondo we come together to remember Amy, raise awareness for cyclist safety, and fundraise for much-needed support in research, education and advocacy. As our first-ever virtual event, we need your help to make it a huge success so that we can ensure another 10 years of riding.

If you haven’t already, register now and set up your fundraising page to help us reach our $75,000 goal!

Included in your registration, you’ll get access to free audio journeys provided by our friends at Cycle Collective to help you stay motivated and keep your training on track.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1 – Register
It’s only $30 with funds going directly to the AGF to support our work to continue to make our road safe for you to cycle.

Step 2 – Train
Stay motivated and keep your training on track with free audio journeys provided by our friends at Cycle Collective. Grab your headphones if you’re riding indoors, and remember to mount your phone on handlebars and opt for speaker mode when riding outdoors. Having full awareness is the best way to go when you’re on the road.

Step 3 – Fundraise
It’s been a long year with a lot less time spent with the people we care about. Create a fundraising team for Virtual Amy’s and stay connected to your riding buddies, wherever they are!

Fundraising for Amy’s Gran Fondo 2020 currently sits at $13,263 and our goal is to raise $75,000 for cyclist safety research, education and advocacy. Setting up your page is easy and will help you talk to the people you love about why you’re passionate about cyclist safety.

Step 4 – Ride in Virtual Amy’s Gran Fondo
On 1 November, join us and our partners at Zwift for Virtual Amy’s – The action starts at 9am AEST, 1st of November. Although not a qualifier for the UCI World Gran Fondo Series, we see this as providing a different opportunity for cycling achievement in the COVID affected 2020. Full details will be available via Zwift Events from 11 September.

Every 10 days a cyclist dies. One in five people injured on the road is a cyclist. This is not good enough. We need your help to make it safe for you and your loved ones to ride.

It’s been 15 years since Amy Gillett was killed while riding her bike. We remember Amy every day and honour her by working towards zero deaths for bike riders. Fundraise, donate and join our mission for safe cycling.
