PROGRESS WITH NSW POLICE ENFORCEMENT OF A METRE MATTERS

Today the Amy Gillett Foundation met with with senior representatives of NSW Police and the NSW Centre for Road Safety, together with Bicycle NSW to discuss a range of issues around cycling safety including enforcement and education of a metre matters laws.

Delighted to agree a way forward which includes:

  1. NSW Police to collaborate with the Amy Gillett Foundation and Bicycle NSW on internal communications and education of front line police on a metre matters (minimum passing distance laws)
  2. NSW Police, the Amy Gillett Foundation and Bicycle NSW working together on bike rider communications on cycling safety issues including use of video evidence in reporting MPD incidents
  3. Working with the Centre for Road Safety and NSW Police on a refreshed driver education campaign on a metre matters laws (MPD).

We look forward to ongoing discussions and activities to help improve cycling safety in NSW.
