The Amy Gillett Foundation is devastated to learn of the death of Damion Drapac. Damion was killed in a crash involving a car being driven in Mount Waverley, on Thursday afternoon. He was riding to a club racing event at Sandown in Melbourne, Victoria.

We express our sincere condolences to the Drapac family, to Damion’s friends and to everyone affected by this terrible loss.

Damion, 30, completed a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at Monash University and a degree in Medicine at Deakin University. Dr Drapac was an active member of Cycling Australia and Brunswick Cycling Club. He raced in the National Road Series and was among the elite cyclists in Australia.

The Drapac family have greatly supported and contributed to the development of Australian cycling. Michael Drapac’s vision for cyclists to be supported to pursue excellence both within and beyond their cycling careers is truly embodied by Damion’s achievements.

Vale Damion
