Empowering leadership and action for Safe Cycling
A national program aimed at delivering long term safe cycling benefits
The Problem
Roads are built for cars. Transport choices, however are becoming increasingly multi-modal. It's time for us to design roads for safe cycling.
60%
Approximately 60% of our trips are now less than 5km
76%
of Australians would choose cycling if they felt safer
What we are doing
Through the Safe Cycling program we are undertaking two interconnected project streams:
Stream 1: Upskilling & Collaborating:
Partnering with experts to provide free and subsidised courses for community leaders and road design practitioners to implement safe cycling outcomes for local communities.

Stream 2: Data and Mapping:
Testing new approaches to documenting how safe our roads are for cyclists. We'll review current tools available for road design through a cycling safety lens.
